In the Progressive rock history, it is noticeable that a lot of Seventies bands were real musical innovators. But the Nineties generation seldom created a new style, most of the bands copying musical structures and themes invented by GENESIS, YES or KING CRIMSON, sometimes with a more personal approach or personality. But there are exceptions: PRIAM, ANGLAGARD... And certainly AFTER CRYING. This Hungarian band became a real reference, at the same level as the greatest bands of Progressive rock. Since their first album, the well named "Overground Music" (1990), cellist Peter PEJTSIK's band created, experienced and achieved a truly unique style. It's based on the mix of an electric rock band and a classical ensemble (Piano, strings & brass), and it has been acclaimed by both rock critics and the audience. Put in the same bag Frank ZAPPA, contemporary music, EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER, symphonic classical music, KING CRIMSON and something more that can't be described: you've got it ! The band reaches its climax thirteen years later with the exceptional "Show". Eagerly awaited, this new studio album uses the full CD length to build a strong concept, a very relevant analysis of our society, with a lot of musical winks, and an unusual sense of humour. Without any doubt, this is one of the highlights of the year 2003 and a real classic of the future. Taste it, buy it, abuse it !
