BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST is certainly one of the most famous British Progressive rock bands. Too frequently compared with THE MOODY BLUES, the guitarist-vocalist John LEES' band chose to concentrate on the most romantic and accessible side of the genre, highlighting the beauty of melodies and the elegance of lyrics. As expected, the famous Mellotron takes naturally part of the array of keyboards player Wooly WOLSTENHOLME ! The carrier of BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST started as soon as 1967 but no sooner than three years later will the first self-titled album be born. "Early Morning Onwards" collects the best titles of the three first albums recorded for the Harvest label on an album released in 1973 at a "budget price". This sampler also included unreleased tracks from singles, particularly from their first single record. "River Of Dreams" shows the great revival of the band into a precious Progressive rock, velvety and refined. Compositions competing with titles from "Gone To Earth" are provided, with beautiful melodies, rich vocal parts and refined orchestred parts. The "Caught Live" DVD takes up a documentary originally produced in 1977 for cinemas. There, concert backstage and exclusive interviews are to be found. Bonus programs are also worthwhile: on top of a biography of the band and its members, including a complete discography, a long and cleaned extract of the concert played in 1974 at the Drury Lane is to be seen and heard. A unique item !
