The debut album of the arguably most unusual band in Ukraine is a view on Seventies Progressive rock from a modern standpoint, logically approached as an alchemic alloy of avant-rock melodies reminding UNIVERS ZERO, broken guitar riffs like THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, tense atmosphere of PRESENT, and keyboard dissonances ala Robert FRIPP. CTHULHU RISE seems to be under influence of vintage art-rock, modern intellectual heavy-metal, and free jazz, to equal extent. In spite of superficial impression of complex and overcharged music, this is not math but psych. CTHULHU RISE examines concomitance of formidable and ridiculous within the same realm.
