RAGE's Mike TERRANA's powerful drumming came from the most demanding heavy-metal school, next to some other guitar heroes such as Yngwie MALMSTEEN and Tony McALPINE. This surely explains why this particularly sought after musician is now part of the drums' creme-de-la-creme, an instrument that he perfectly learnt to use during his 30-year long career. By the way, "Shadows Of The Past" was recorded to commemorate with pomp this anniversary. Mike TERRANA could have folded to the same temptation as most of his colleagues and issued a unique and long drums solo made of virtuosity and technique. However, even if his drumming style immediately takes most of the attention, he was clever enough to put all his talents at the service of the melody and compositions. All this creates an excellent concentrated, modern and quite impressive jazz-rock fusion, an instrumental music in which his extraordinary feeling proves breathtaking with precision and invention. Some cool-jazz parts, with brass section, come to temper with purely electric sequences. Nevertheless, you have no headache to fear! Mike TERRANA even gathered people around him that prove his ambition. First and foremost is Steve LUKATHER, the famous guitarist of TOTO. Bass player Kevin CHOWN also gives us catchy lines and grooves. The drummer also takes this chance to pay tribute to another of the greatest at this instrument, Billy COBHAM, with a cover of "Antares". Morover, we even get a wonderfully crazy drums solo recorded during a show in the Netherlands. Here is then an album that will reconcile fans and musicians in need of sensations alike.
