CURVED AIR is one of the major British Progressive groups of the Seventies. Their name came from a Terry RILEY composition. The original band included violinist Darryl WAY, singer Sonja KRISTINA and guitarist-keyboard player Francis MONKMAN (Future member of SKY) in 1970. "Air Conditioning" was their debut album, releasing "Second Album" one year afterwards (1971) and then "Phantasmagoria" the following year. After the violinist dismissal, Eddie JOBSON (future member of U.K.) joined CURVED AIR for "Air Cut" in 1973. Then the group split up. "Live" and "Midnight Wire" are both from a 1975's reunion of the original band and some new members like bassist John G. PERRY. American drummer Stewart COPELAND, the singer's husband, joined during the group's settlement in Beirut. "Airborne" was the group's fifth and last studio recording in 1976. "Alive, 1990" is the witness of an exceptional reunion of CURVED AIR with their original line-up, in 1990, during a concert focused on the first three albums. The classic CURVED AIR line-up from 1972 (Sonja KRISTINA, Darryl WAY, Francis MONKMAN, Mike WEDGEWOOD and Florian PILKINGTON-MIKSA) recorded a fascinating film, now available as a DVD under the name "Masters From The Vaults". It features the British Progressive rock band at the very peak of form. The tracks appearing here are "Marie-Antoinette", "Propositions", "Melinda More Or Less" and "Vivaldi". As an exclusive bonus, it also contains a very instructive interview made by Darryl WAY...
