KLIMPEREI is the solo project of Christophe PETCHANATZ, a French composer formerly of LOS PARANOS. It has been built on the German verb "klimpern", that could be translated as "make it sound". This also reminds of the term "to arrange", very present in the art of KLIMPEREI. Along with many friends and guests, our man's sparkling and cunning music, which may seem simple and naive at first, could be heard as a meeting between SATIE and rock music. A bit in the vein of Pascal COMELADE, toys can become instruments, immersing us in the sweet world of our childhood. This is ideal for musical illustrations ! The first album "Where Memories Began To Fade" was recorded in 1987, and was followed by the release of "Tout Seul Sur La Plage" ("Alone On The Beach") three years later. "Blumenfabrik" ("Flower Factory" in German) dates back from 1994 and "Alice Au Pays Des Merveilles" ("Alice In Wonderland") was released six years later... KLIMPEREI's fame grew on and on, gathering always wider audiences, not only in France but also in remote areas such as Japan. This is where a collection of three albums were recently released by the Novel Cell Poem label, which makes early albums again available according to many fans' claims, whereas most of these recordings had remained unreleased. The first volume is entitled "Pimpant !" ("Spruce !") and collects thirty two tracks recorded between 1988 and 1994. "Big Et Bang" was created in 2001 for the Théâtre du Verseau in Lyon. Second part of the "Les Zut-O-Pistes" collection, initiated by Dominique GRIMAUD and the Gazul label, "Patamob" is a selection of previously unreleased recordings captured between 1997 and 2001. On no account should you miss them ! "Improvisation With Myself - Volume One" (2008) has been entirely composed and recorded in three weeks, half self-improvised. This is an original conception of improvisation both tonal and amusing, a spontaneous and quick approach to overdubbing. This new InPolySons' collection consists of purposely simple CD with black and white cardboard sleeve to free ourselves from expensive costs and diminish plastic pollutions. This is part of a limited edition CD serie that should be followed by new releases to initiate a conceptual work. A sustainable CD ?... The first collaboration between KLIPEREI and Pierre BASTIEN dates back from the years 1986 and 1987, and the first common release came out in 1995 on Pierre BASTIEN's album "Eggs Air Sister Steel" (In-Poly-Sons). Then, in 1998, the Prikosnovenie label released the tw (three) protagonists' album "Mécanologie Portative". Coming from the same recording sessions, "Octogonale Impérative" cannot be considered at all like the bringing out of studio trimmings or barrel-scrapping. On the contrary, these recordings that remained in the shade and eventually remixed in 2009, are in the end more audacious than those of the original album.
