Matt OLDFIELD (Royaume-Uni) My Own Advice

Latest member of a family line that has left its trace on pop music during the last thirty years, Matt OLDFIELD is indeed the nephew of the famous "Tubular Bells" composer. His father Terry OLDFIELD, brother of Mike, was especially known due to his composing music for TV. Matt proves to be a gifted singer-songwriter in the great blues tradition. On the excellent "My Own Advice" (2002), his use of the mouth organ and of the acoustic guitar can also remind of Bob DYLAN's works while the electric moments can evoke Jim CAPALDI as a solo artist.

Petit nouveau d'une lignée qui a marqué de son empreinte la musique populaire de ces trente dernières années, Matt OLDFIELD n'est autre que le neveu du fameux compositeur de "Tubular Bells". Son père terry OLDFIELD, frère du dernier nommé, s'est quant à lui illustré essentiellement dans les musiques pour la télévision. Notre homme se révèle comme un singer-songwriter doué, dans la grande tradition du blues. Sur l'excellent "My Own Advice" (2002), son usage de l'harmonica et de la guitare acoustique ne vont pas sans rappeler les travaux du grand Bob DYLAN, alors que les passages électriques peuvent évoquer Jim CAPALDI en solo.
