ARPIA (Italie) Liberazione

ARPIA is an Italian band created in the year 1984, made of singer-multi-instrumentalist Leonardo BONETTI, guitarist Fabio BRAIT and drummer Aldo ORAZI. Most of the time, the third album marks a critical point for a band, so that's why our three fellows chose the originality card for "Racconto D'Inverno", published by the Musea label in the year 2009. This ambitious concept-album adapts and recreates a novel written by Leonardo BONETTI. Here's an unusual line-up, incuding a female singer and acoustic guitars, for a music free of electric chords, becoming more and more symphonic with the use of keyboards in the second half of the album. ARPIA's music is difficult to compare with any other. Unquiet harmonies and atmospheres may recall KING CRIMSON, the acoustic works of Peter HAMMILL, or even BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO and the Italian School of Progressive rock, with Italian lyrics and singing. ARPIA est un trio italien créé en l'an 1984, et composé du chanteur-multi-instrumentiste Leonardo BONETTI, du guitariste Fabio BRAIT et du batteur Aldo ORAZI. L'on sait que le cap du troisième opus est souvent le plus difficile à franchir, c'est pourquoi nos compères choisirent la carte de l'orginalité pour "Racconto D'Inverno", publié par le label Musea en l'an 2009. Cet ambitieux concept-album adapte, complète et recrée en un sens le roman écrit de la main de Leonardo BONETTI. Voilà une formation inhabituelle, incluant chant féminin et guitare acoustique, pour une musique qui ne l'est pas moins, délaissant notamment les cordes électriques. La dominante acoustique se teinte de symphonisme au fil de l'album, les claviers prenant peu à peu une place importante. Il est difficile de rapprocher ARPIA de qui que ce soit, cependant, les harmonies tendues et les ambiances inquiètes peuvent rappeler KING CRIMSON ou l'oeuvre acoustique de Peter HAMMILL. Les amateurs de BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO et de l'Ecole Italienne du rock Progressif des années soixante-dix ne seront pas non plus en terrain inconnu. Le chant, en italien, n'est pas le moindre charme d'un album joué avec intensité et excellemment bien produit. "Racconto D'Inverno" (2009) a tout du sortilège vénéneux auquel l'auditeur succombe avec plaisir...
