NIACIN (USA) Niacin

NIACIN is the name of an instrumental power-organ trio of the modern times. In the vein of references like EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER, our three companions are real virtuosi in their own fields. Drummer Dennis CHAMBERS (John McLAUGHLIN) is often compared with Billy COBHAM, while Billy SHEEHAN (MISTER BIG) is devoted to Heavy Metal. If keyboardist John NOVELLO does not have so eloquent references, he tends to restore the truth thanks to his unbelievable abilities. His Hammond B3 organ strikes in front an armored rhythmic section. On the other hand, there is nothing about Symphonic Progressive Rock, even if this influence manages to appear from time to time. In fact we are in front of a modern, gifted and inventive fusion Jazz-Rock band. Basic Funk and Rock are not forgotten, the common denominator being the pleasure of performing together. NIACIN's discography is composed of an eponymous album, the "High Bias" studio album, a live record presed in Japan and "Deep". Always rigorous and ravy at the same time, the fifth opus entitled "Time Crunch" (2001) contains a cover of "Red" originally bi KING CRIMSON. For rollercoaster fans... Behind the play on words "Blood, Sweat and Beers", we can find an excellent live album. Fans of strong sensations, here is a challenge for you! The comeback of the power trio at their best! After an excellent third album ("Time Crunch") issued two years ago, NIACIN comes back with a impressive album: the well-called "Live! ? Blood, Sweat and Beers" (2003). Bassist Billy SHEEHAN (Mr BIG), drummer Dennis CHAMBERS (John McLAUGHLIN) and keyboardist John NOVELLO (Chick COREA) show once more that they are more than able to make the audiences go crazy. Careful: those three musicians will wake up the dead! Their previously unheard blend of progressive rock, jazz rock and instrumental funk is still as efficient as ever, and this truly shows on stage. On top of their usual track list, the US band gives us two impressive covers: "Purple Rain" (PRINCE) and "You keep me Hangin' on" (THE SUPREMES). A feast for all fans of Hammond B3 organ, an always renewed listening pleasure!

Le batteur Dennis CHAMBERS (John McLAUGHLIN) est souvent comparé à Billy COBHAM, alors que le bassiste Billy SHEEHAN (MISTER BIG) est un incontournable du heavy-metal. Si le claviériste John NOVELLO ne dispose pas de références aussi éloquentes, il se charge de rétablir, quant à ses incroyables capacités, la vérité du terrain. Son orgue Hammond B3 fait merveille, face à une section rythmique en béton armé. En revanche, il est très peu quetion de rock Progressif symphonique, même si cette influence parvient à transparaître subrepticement. En fait, nous nous trouvons face à une formation de jazz-rock fusion moderne, saisissante de talent et d'inventivité. Le funk et le rock basique ne sont pas oubliés, le dénominateur commun étant le plaisir de jouer ensemble. La discographie de NIACIN comprend un album éponyme, le studio "High Bias", un disque live en pressage japonais et "Deep". Toujours aussi rigoureux et déluré à la fois, le cinquième opus "Time Crunch" (2001) comprend par ailleurs une surprenante reprise du "Red" de KING CRIMSON. Sous le jeu de mot de "Blood, Sweat And Beers, l'on retrouve en fait un excellent album en public. Amateurs de sensations fortes, voici un défi taillé à votre mesure ! Le retour du power-trio dans toute sa splendeur ! Le bassiste Billy SHEEHAN (Mr BIG), le batteur Dennis CHAMBERS (John McLAUGHLIN) et le claviériste John NOVELLO (Chick COREA) nous démontrent une fois de plus qu'à eux seuls, ils sont capables de déchaîner les foules. Attention: ces trois-là vont réveiller les morts ! Toujours aussi efficace, leur mélange inédit de rock Progressif, de jazz-rock et de funk instrumental se révèle véritablement sur scène. En plus de son répertoire habituel, le groupe étasunien nous propose deux reprises hallucinantes: "Purple Rain" (PRINCE) et You Keep Me Hangin' On (THE SUPREMES). Un festin pour tout amateur d'orgue Hammond B3, un plaisir d‘écoute toujours renouvelé !
