LEGER DE MAIN (USA) A Lasting Impression

The Chris (Guitar, bass & keyboards) and Brett (Drums & percussions) RODLER brothers are LEGER DE MAIN, along with the charming Melissa BLAIR. All together, their fill the sound space in a very convincing way: nice female vocals and instrumental parts mix captivating melodies and interesting rhythms in long tracks (Up to twenty minutes). A simple but charming Progressive rock. After the excellent "The Concept Of Our Reality" (1995), "Second First Impression" (1997) displays a dark and paroxysmical Progressive rock made of accelerations, spirited crescendos and tortured guitar soli. This band evokes THE ROOTS OF CONSCIOUSNESS, TIEMKO, DISCIPLINE or KING CRIMSON in its "Red" period, due to its rough, complex and powerful style made of series of breaks and rhythms. One could also feel some Progressive heavy-metal influences, not unlike RUSH's or DREAM THEATER's. "A Lasting Impression" combines the two remastered studio albums in an interesting 2CD-pack, including bonus tracks. To be discovered !

Les frères Chris (Guitare, basse & batterie) et Brett RODLER (Batterie & percussions) forment LEGER DE MAIN, en compagnie de la charmante Melissa BLAIR. A eux trois, ils remplissent l'espace sonore de manière convaincante: les vocaux féminins sont agréables et les parties instrumentales savent allier mélodies prenantes et rythmes intéressants dans de longs morceaux, pouvant parfois atteindre les vingt minutes. Après l'excellent "The Concept Of Our Reality" (1995), le non-moins excellent "Second First Impression" (1997) présente un rock Progressif sombre et climatique, aux accélérations et crescendos fougueux, avec des soli de guitare torturés. Il se rapproche ainsi de ROOTS OF CONCIOUSNESS ou TIEMKO, de DISCIPLINE, du KING CRIMSON de "Red" par sa musique rugueuse, complexe, puissante avec ces sucessions de breaks ou autres rythmes tendus. On y ressent également des accents proches du heavy-metal Progressif, tendant à rapprocher LEGER DE MAIN de RUSH ou DREAM THEATER. "A Lasting Impression" combine les deux albums studio remasterisés en un intéressant double-CD, comprenant des titres bonus. A découvrir !
