Patrick MORAZ (Suisse) Future Memories I & II

This Swiss keyboardist became famous when he got the difficult mission to replace Rick WAKEMAN within YES. In those days, in 1974, the Brits were preparing an album that would remain one of the most experimental in their long career. Despite uncommon excesses, "Relayer" actually bears the Patrick MORAZ's trademark: an adventurous jazz-rock fusion with a touch or electronic experiments. Patrick actually started in MAINHORSE, before performing in JACKSON HEIGHTS and REFUGEE and participating to the works of THE MOODY BLUES, in the Eighties. His collaboration with drummer Bill BRUFORD made concrete by "Music For Piano And Drums" in 1984 and "Flags" the year after are noteworthy. His first solo album entitled "The Story Of I" dates from 1976. "Live In Princetown" shows him live in 1995, alone with himself and his piano.

Patrick MORAZ connut son heure de gloire lorsqu'il eût la périlleuse mission de remplacer Rick WAKEMAN au sein de YES. A cette époque, c'est-à-dire en 1974, les Anglais préparaient un album qui restera comme l'un des plus expérimentaux de leur longue carrière. "Relayer", malgré ses débordements peu communs, porte en fait la marque de fabrique du claviériste helvétique: un jazz-rock fusion aventureux et mâtiné d'expérimentations électroniques. Notre homme débuta au sein de la formation MAINHORSE (Proche de EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER, avec une guitare...), avant de s'affirmer dans JACKSON HEIGHTS et REFUGEE (Avec d'anciens memebres de THE NICE...), puis de participer aux oeuvres de THE MOODY BLUES dans les Eighties... Notons également ses collaborations avec le batteur Bill BRUFORD, concrétisées par "Music For Piano And Drums" en 1984, et "Flags" l'année suivante. Sa première oeuvre en solitaire, "The Story Of I", date de 1976. "Live In Princeton" présente l'artiste en concert en 1995, seul avec lui-même et son piano.
